I am sitting on the plane on my way back from Spain. It is almost 11am in Europe, I have finished playing 5 hours ago and I have a long way to go before I reach my nice and comfortable bed in Montreal. But I don’t care. No matter how tired I am and will be, every minute of my very quick weekend was worth all the fatigue in the world!! Friday at Hangar Disco near Castellon. Was such a great night. Very small club, but what a surprise! After travelling for over 30 hours to get there, between 3 flights and many hours spent waiting in airports and being in car rides, I finally reached that small club that not many people know but that has a very impressive sound system and a very nice crowd. It’s right by the beach, so I can only imagine how beautiful it would be in the summer time! I think the people there were really happy to have me playing, as per what I could see anyway, it doesn’t seem like they have much International talent. I don’t know if I should say this, I kinda feel like I shouldn’t, but then maybe it’s ok to say it, but anyway thank God I keep my shoes immaculately clean because the owner was so happy that he got down on his knees and kissed my boots! I couldn’t believe it! And at the end of my set I received from him 12 beautiful red roses. They were so gorgeous and I was very touched. All was so nice and perfect on that night, I was very well looked after and very happy. So, since I was talking about being touched, here is the highlight of my weekend: Florida 135, a few hours ago….. WOW. WOW. WOW!!!!! I don’t know how to say this, because I have a feeling that whoever wasn’t there will never understand… But I can try… Do you know what the feeling is for arriving in a 4000 + people club and see that the queue outside is so long, but that they cannot get in anymore because it’s already full inside (they had to shut the doors at 3am as there was no more room inside the club), and as soon as you get in the DJ booth still with your coat on, the whole, I said the whole, THE WHOLE ENTIRE CLUB starts screaming and everyone, I said everyone, EVERYONE IN THERE had their hands in the air to welcome you?????????? The feeling is: being extremely touched!!!! I had a mixture of a smile that was hurting to stay on my face because I didn’t really know if I wanted to smile or just stay opened mouth and contemplate this amazing phenomenon, with tears almost, and goosebumps! I was completely amazed and I couldn’t believe it. This happens to me in Montreal, and I love it and it’s such a nice feeling because it’s home…. But as Brian once said to me: “If Montreal is home than Spain is my backyard!” And he was right… God was he right! My almost 4 hours set was really fun and intense. I had the best time and when I was in the peak and was playing extremely hard and fast I thought at some point that I may lose them, but I really wanted to test them, and not at all… they were all into it and they were all loving it and just going SO crazy for it! It was really an incredible night and even though in Cataluna I could get killed (joking) if I sing QUE VIVA L’ESPANA!, sorry, but I really mean it! QUE VIVA L’ESPANA y QUE BONITA L’ESPANA y QUE LOCA y QUE FENOMENAL QUE ES L’ESPANA!!!!!!!!!!! I look forward to be back there on July 3rd for Satisfaxion Festival in Almeria, which is a new one for me, but I especially look forward to Monegros (Groove Parade) on July 17th! Now that’s going to be something else!!!! This year again I will be closing the festival… watch out! Thank you all for making my night! It was absolutely fantastic! Thanks to Eva for your nice company and driving. Thanks to Juan y Cruz & everybody at F135!!! Thank you Spain! Un besito Barbara
