I finished my last post by saying that after this past weekend Montreal, Chicago and Ottawa would never be the same… and I was right!
Last week when I got back from Europe I flew back with my friend Clare / DJ Heaven. She came to Montreal for a week so we could work together in the studio and then play a few gigs together during this past weekend.
Well.. what can I say!
I find the studio empty now; Montreal different; and I think that Chicago and Ottawa are still hung over!
When things are meant to be, they are meant to be.
Like Vince was meant to find us, scare us, bug us, slow us down and then finally help us getting through things fine anyway, things are meant to be.
As Vince was meant to be, our fine time working together in the studio and getting perfectly along was too.
This track that we made together has already rocked the dance floor at Unity in Montreal, where DJ Heaven played on Thursday night, and it has rocked the dance floor at Crobar in Chicago on Friday as well, where we both played.
I am really proud of this track and I know that it is the most perfect result of what happens when two minds and styles like ours meet.
Gigs: fantastic!
I had a great time at Unity while Heaven was playing! It was great for me to not play for once and just be able to dance and listen to the music and I really enjoyed watching Montrealers loving Heaven. I was really proud of her!
In Chicago and Ottawa, where we both played, the people were nearly ripping off pieces of the wall and the roof! In Ottawa we almost got the club in trouble with police as we couldn’t stop playing… After Heaven’s set I played for little over two hours and then we had a tag team for over an hour together, and it was really fun! We would have probably continued until noon if the club wouldn’t have had to shut down.
The people at the gigs were really great, the music that we both play went down really well even though we have a very different style. People were happy and very open minded to both of our styles.
This weekend has been a ‘Première’ of many more in the future. Look out for VINCE & THE MARACAS near you, as he might be playing to promote his new music done with lots of laughs, confusion, strange noises and late, late nights!
There is nothing impossible in life.
Always think “BECAUSE I CAN” and you’ll make it happen. You just need to believe in things and take them with a great big laugh!
Anyway, when things are meant to be, they are meant to be, so no need to freak, no need to compare, no need to look around you and wonder what’s going on, as it will go on anyway! Just live, as life’s too short.. even though some days are long like weeks!
